Artist Study Fact Sheet
Author
Amanda Parker
Summary
The purpose of this lesson is not to teach students how to use the PowerPoint program, but to use their prior knowledge of this program to add to an art history lesson, and to create an interactive, fun way for students to work with information on famous artists!!

Using Microsoft PowerPoint students will create individual fact cards based on a famous artist from the past or present. The Fact card will allow students to display an example of the artist’s work, and information discovered during research of that artist. This is a fun and interactive way for students to become more familiar with a masterpiece and its maker. The student’s fact cards can be put together to create a resource book of famous artists as well as a slide show for all to view.

Author
Sally Lawyer
Summary
Once students have become familiar with using the mouse and keyboard, it is important to provide them with opportunities to practice their skills and learn from computer activities rather than “play a game”. The lessons will provide students with activities, which make thematic connections and opportunities to reinforce their literacy skills. Activities designed for thematic units in Kindergarten should involve the students in multiple opportunities to learn key concepts in various ways. Students will have opportunities to listen to stories, predict outcomes, and make connections to the story.

Top Ten Traits To Know About Me
Author
David Peirce
Summary
This activity is an icebreaker activity well suited to the first days of school, a get to know each other activity. Students will use technology to create a poster of the ten most important personality traits that they feel the staff and other students need to know about themselves. Posters will be published in the classroom and hallways. Always remind students to protect their privacy (i.e.; Don’t publish traits about themselves that they don’t want to be public).
This is a great activity to have completed before an autumn Open House or parent conferences.

Interpreting Graphs 1.2 – Data About Us
Author
Harry Gleim
Summary
This problem reviews or teaches students about line plots and bar graphs and relates the structures of these two types of graphs. Research has shown that students do not automatically “translate across representations “ – they may not initially view the line plot and the bar graph as comparable representations and may not recognize when a line plot and a bar graph display identical information. This problem provides an opportunity for you to assess and reinforce students’ understanding
