I am the great niece of Jason Ard Lodwick. If you remember anything about him, please contact me. My oldest son looks very much like him.

I was aboard during the transit to the Med as a Midhipman 1c. There were twenty Midshipman abord for the rtansit and ten of us transfered to the R. K. Huntington on reaching the med. If anyone knows the name of the skipper in June 1959 I would appreciate the information.

Our American Legion Post in Pelham NY is charting the history of the 85 residents of the Town, near the Bronx and NYC, who have been killed in five wars over th past 90 years. One of those was Lt. Jason Lodwich who had just joined your ship when it was hit by a Japanese plane off of Okinawa. We found a brief article on microfilm about Lt. Lodwich which indicated his death on the USS Braine. Any additional information would be most appreciated. Our website is:

My father, Joseph S Beall Jr. ("Joe") was a USS Wadleigh plank holder, assigned to the first Wadleigh ship's crew, having reporting aboard on 12 Oct. 1943. He was a sonar man onboard when the Wadleigh struck the mine off of Kossol Roads that disabled her. On 18 Sep 1944 He was transferred off Wadleigh and was transported and eventually assigned aboard his new Destroyer the USS R.P. Leary. Received onboard USS RP Leary on 26 Nov 1944 where he served until July 1945, when he was sent to San Diego West Coast Sound School for further training. He was processed for discharge there in Nov. 1945.
He died of cancer in March of 1964. I graduated from The Citadel and served as a Naval Aviator Officer from 1975 to 1985 serving on the USS Forrestal, USS Kennedy, and USS Eisenhower. I was stationed at NAS Cubi Point/ Subic Bay 1980-82 with COMFAIRWESTPAC, and was there for the 40th anniversary commemorations for the fall of Bataan and the Philippines to the Japanese, and learned much of the history from the locals while living there. I was very proud that my father and country had participated in the liberation campaigns of the Pacific.

Very well done. I'm glad you've taken the time to do this. I remember when we were hit by a sub USS Edison and when we decommissioned her.

I was a 6th grade classmate of
Walter Gaddis in Minneapolis. We attended St. Thomas School. We played often with make-shift ships! Could this be the same person?
