Spreadsheets organize information in an effective and orderly fashion that allows the user to find the information displayed easily. The spreadsheet I've developed will allow me to account for the books I've purchased for the classroom by recording the book's title, copyright year, ISBN number, publisher name, purchase price, date purchased, and the number of pages. In the event of a situation in which I'd be allowed to promote an independent reading project where students are allowed to choose between a variety of books, a spreadsheet like this would allow me to give students all the necessary information (besides a text summary) before they purchase the book themselves.
